It
all started in 1969 in San Diego . Computers were
becoming a reality. It seemed the possibilities were
endless. Could you have a computer process all of the
accounting functions? Yes, one fellow had a vision
that it could be done. So in the next three years he
put a team together and started a consulting company called
Profit Systems Plus rooted in the Irvine area of Southern
California.
Their
first consulting contract was with the Balboa Bay Club in
Newport Beach. In 1974 they had software that would
run their apartments, hotel, restaurants, marina, tennis
club and shop facilities with one totally integrated system.
It did accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general
ledger, reservations and point of sale eliminating half
of the accounting staff and providing management with real-time
daily operating results.
In
the next few years they landed contracts like the Marina
City Club in Marina Del Rey, CA, and the Maksoud Plaza Hotel,
Sao Palo, Brazil. After a huge write up on a unique multiple
restaurant installation at the South Coast Plaza in Costa
Mesa, CA, they incorporated in the name of Executive System
Plus.
In
1979, a restaurant portion of this package was introduced
to the market that began the evolution for point of sale
companies in the 80’s. Over the next twenty years, ESP installed
over 1,150 modules for hotels, clubs, marinas, time shares
and many of the top restaurants in the United States.
In
1999, the gentleman who many consider one of the father's
of the industry after 30 years chose to retire to his first
love, music due to the constraints of the 21st century.
Fortunately, there was too many who refused to let the system
go. One such person, James Schmidt of The Rattlesnake Club
in Detroit persuaded him to bring the system into the 21st
century, now as the amazing AccountAtron.
